If you are using eco goldex you will have high levels of junk base metals in your leach solution, these will be non-elutable from resin or carbon and will lock high levels of gold into the pores.
You can only recover this gold by ashing the resin even though you will have high gold losses through doing so.
Seeing that you are going to destroy the resin sooner rather than later, what you want is a cheap strong base anionic resin.
These are cheapest when supplied from China for water treatment, you should have multiple retail sources near you for cheap resins used in water treatment .
These are usually sold in 25 litre bags, they will degrade if stored too long especially if in opened bags.
The smartest thing you can do is to forget your eco goldex mixture and just get ferro/i cyanide and run that as a cyanide leach at pH 11. You will save money and not have the problems associated with the junk metals in solution.

wondering if ashing with a cover of borax and or soda ash will help prevent volatilizing the pgms.
Layer of anything will defy the purpose of ashing.
It need access to ample oxygen/air to burn the Carbon to Carbon dioxide.
