I was adding SMB to a AuCl and it turned a orange color but the gold dropped out. What is this color, shouldn't it turn clear and drop.I was processing cpus with nitric and got the pins clean and then washed it throuhly and dissolved with Hcl/Clorox,Whats up?

Possibly a contaminent like steel was in your solution. Have you tested with stanous? Too much SMB can give you a flase positive. You might possibly need to add some water to your solution. Or you might consider puttig some copper slab in your solution to cement out your values.

Sounds to me like "what's up" is you still have gold in solution. You made no mention of a stannous chloride test. Can I assume you didn't test the solution after precipitation?
