stripping gold with gold strip

i usually strip gold from plated material with gold stripper---but i have gold fantasy jewellery that gold stripper does not work well-----why does not work well? do i have to make a stronguer stripper solution for these fantasy jewellery? by being logical,gold stripper should strip gold from any material------ thanks for any coments on this question?---regards to all-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Arthur Kierski

I have two thoughts:
Are you sure it's actually gold plated, or might it just be gold colored?

Might it have some type of clear coating over the gold plate/color?

i will check your doubts----yes ,it might have a coating over the gold plated jewellery----Thanks Frugalrefiner

Arthur it can also make a difference on what the gold is plated onto, whether there’s a nickel barrier, if you are finding big amounts of base metals in your recoveries you may need to use a weaker more selective mix, it will be slower but it should strip the gold more completely.
