This is what I managed to do today. My time is usually everywhere else but today I was baby sitting the older monsters in the pool so got this done. 20+ boxes just like it to go.

Can you spot the goodies I've found?

The glassware is about half of what I have yet to do. There was 3 more bins of glassware though.
I got about 1-2 grams out of the fist batch.

Just a note on finding old stuff. In any natural disaster like a hurricane, tornado, etc. if the power is out, your cordless phones are useless. If cellphone towers are down as well, you have no communication. But if landlines are still intact, an old dial telephone will work just fine. I also remember seeing a video (I think it was KipKay) that showed how to make a low-voltage lamp that you could run off your phone line.
So if you find an old dial phone that still works, put it away with your emergency supplies. It might just save your life.

With a couple of them old phones and you can make an intercom, so your wife can call you from the lab when she has dinner ready.
How hard is that to do? Can you tell me how to do this cause I like this idea? I think I still have two of them around.

Jack

Phone #1 green wire to 300 ohm resistor, other leg of this resistor to positive of DC power source.
Phone #1 red wire to phone #2 green wire.
Phone #2 red wire to negative of DC power source.

The power source can be a 9volt battery, 12volt battery or even an wall wart black plugin cube (if an AC wall wart is used a diode or bridge rectifier can be added to make it a direct current power supply, you can use anywhere from 9volt to 15 volt (24volt with modification).

Now this is as simple about as simple as it gets, if you wish to add a buzzer or lights or more phones to the intercom it is possible, Google search telephone intercom circuits, to find ideas for a circuit.

Assuming you still have old landlines and haven't upgraded to VoIP like I did! :)
