Hi, I'm scrappappy aka scraphappy and scrapdaddy etc. I've been hanging around the forum for a couple months now and I'm kinda late getting around to introducing myself. I started a casual interest in PM's about 15 yrs ago when I worked on some cutting edge telecom equipment during the tech bubble.. the company I worked for invested several billions in the equipment.. some of the people that I worked with were doing interviews for yahoo and alike.. then the stock market crashed and the project was discontinued. When people started asking about the "value" of the remaining gear, the company simply said they planned to cover the precious metals during recycling. That taught me a thing or two about the true meaning of intrinsic value. It was another 8 years before the 2008 meltdown when I finally got a better understanding of the importance of precious metals. Since that time I've spent a good deal of time as a picker and focusing on tangible assets, finding value in things that are still being overlooked by most.. even in the "new normal" that we live today.

For now I continue reading about PM recovery and refining with the hopes of someday becoming a home refiner. Until then.. onward and upward!

Hi Scrappappy!
Welcome to our forum! In the signature lines (at the very bottom of some of the active member's posts) you can download a free copy of Ms. Hoke's book, "refining precious metal wastes" It will give you a great understanding of what you need to learn to recover and refine precious metals.
Good luck! artart47.

Thanks artart47. I started reading Hoke.. it's been slow going so far but I'm sure it will become easier as the processes and terminology become more familiar. This forum has also been a great help. It's nice being able to search on a specific subject and it almost always seems that it's been covered previously. It's a great resource.
