Hi All,

i've been looking for a chart that shows the reactions or non reactions of acids to metals.

i know it's here somewhere just can't find it.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave.

Hi Dave.
If I'm correct what you want is: a table/list of which acids/bases dissolves which metals?
Like that HCl dissolves Tin, Iron, Zinc, Chrome and so on.
I think I have seen one at a time, but don't seem to find it again.

yes you are correct.
it shows which acids react and do not react to many types of metals encountered during the recovery / refining process

Firstly welcome back old friend. (Used to be Spaceships)

If you really want to know this stuff you need to buy a copy of the "Handbook of Chemistry and Physics." Doesn't matter too much which revision it is however its full of information about what metals and compounds are solvent in which reagents and chemicals.

There is some pretty interesting information in there I promise you. 8) 8)

i've been googling for days now including googling here on GRF.

the chart i am referring to is close to this one (see URL) but the one i am looking for only shows different types of acids and how the reactions or non reactions act between acids & metals only.
the chart i originally seen on the GRF was simple and to the point, it was also small enough to fit on a printed sheet of 8.5" X 11" paper.

as in: (it was an image not a rudimentary chart like below)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ACID
METAL - - - - - - - HCL - - Nitric - - Sulfuric - - - HCL X3 + NITRIC X1 +++++++
---------------------|-----|----------|-------------|----------------------------|
Au - - - - - - - - - - -no - - -no - - - - no - - - - - - - - yes
Ag
Pd
Pt
Pb
Sn
Cu

thanks for helping find this elusive chart

Amazing what a search engine will do when you ask for the right thing. lol
