Hello,
I have been interested in the gold recovery from computer boards, cpus, etc for a while now and came across this site in my research. I'm not looking to process the boards my self since I have no background in chemicals at all (I'm a IT Tech), but I might have an opportunity to be able to buy computers, ram, cpus, etc at a cheap price and seperate the boards and base metals for recycling at my local scrap yard. I have not found a good place to sell the boards yet though. The best thing I have came across so far is ebay at around $2-3.50/pound for motherboards and $100/pound for clean cut gold fingers.
So now I will get to the point of me joining this site. I am looking for a buyer of primary computer motherboards, add in cards, and ram chips which have the gold fingers cut off (sold seperatly if I can make any value at all for my past time). I'm expecting to build up a fair amount of boards before selling to make it worth while for me as well as the buyer (shipping/transport costs) probably min 200-500 pounds of boards and 1-5 pounds for gold fingers
I will also be getting some lower grade boards from printers, scanners, tvs, and other electronics with less gold connectors and such. I will need to find a buyer for them as well.
Odds and ends I'm not sure exactly what to do with are as follows:
Plastics from the computer cases, printer cases, cellphones, etc. - is there a buyer of this, or an expense to recycle in bulk?
Computer batteries (laptop and CMOS) - They will add up, i'm sure I could get rid of them at my local waste/recycle yard or at work if I have to.
CRT Leaded Glass - My local waste/recycler accepts them, I have to talk to them yet about quanty limits and such. I have a feeling it is 1 per month for free.
Connectors (Copper wire) - Is there any type of resale value of the connectors such as power supply cords?
Connectors (Gold plated) - I found a webpage that pays $2 / pound for gold plated connectors, maybe someone on here knows a better place, or somewhere more local?
Sorry for the huge post, but I have a lot of questions . I hope this pans out well since it will also help a local coin dealer i'm working with (currenty buys normal scrap since the closest yard is 30 or so miles away). I also have contacts at work and a game/pawn shop that I'm sure would be willing to help me get computers and other electronics.
Thanks,
Ps2fixer (yes I use to fix play stations, got 30+ boards yet lol)
