hey guys i was told by a guy at one of the computer shops i pick up from that in the next year there will be only windows 7 and a lot of older computers will not support it so there shoud be lots of scrap machines

You can use Ubuntu or any other linux operating system on older computers.
That is not to say that you will not see a lot more scrap computers,because most people only know windows.

yes,ubuntu is an alternative option for that in old PCs.
but now a days all people are aware from wimdows 7.
and they are now very comfortable with it.
