Be very careful regarding X-ray tubes. Windows for X-rays can be made from very hazardous materials, and old ones are probably some beryllium alloy. Choice of materials inside can also be quite dubious, old ones can actually contain a lot more "surprise" stuff, which is of no value in PMs, but can be hazardous.

If you will ever dissassemble any medical scanning devices or scientific equipment, I more than strongly advise to acquire radiation detector. Simple cheap one from Aliexpress was more than sufficient for me through my refining career. It cost 60 USD. Altough it cannot detect alpha radiation, this can be hacked by making few holes in the plastic casing in the place where Geiger tube is mounted.

You simply don´t want to buy any secondhand device from anybody, later discovering there are ionizing radiation sources. It can be more plausible than you can think. What you will do then with it ?
