Not sure if this has been posted before if it has I apologize but it shows why you should use dry and preheated molds.

Trust me on this, no matter many times you tell certain students about safety, young brains just do not work the same as a mature brain.

A mature person would have put the darn camera down and helped.But god forbid we miss one second of recording.
 
As long as it took them to extinguish the fire, it's a good thing for them that there wasn't any flammable material close by. :shock:

Yes and you notice they left the white hot graphite crucible on the counter top rather than picking it up with the tongs and placing it on the mold?
 
They're lucky it wasn't Magnesium or Magalum they were pouring. Making Magalum is popular with the Pyro crowd.


What amazes me is that none of them were burned by the explosion.
