Test a bit of filing with some HCl to see if it dissolves slowly. If so, then you have stannous chloride and enough tin to last a lifetime.
Ok. I took more pics as well. I believe the blue sticker says made in Mexico.

One thing I noticed from your post is you have declined to say where you are from in your profile, I'm not talking about a definitive address but sometimes knowing where a member is from an answer can be as simple as "Oh, you aren't too far from me, stop over and I can help" or "So and so scrapyard in wherever has an XRF and will probably scan it for you for a few bucks". You get the idea. But without any indication it makes it difficult for anyone who is willing to help to know where you are located.

Test with Hydrochloric Acid to see if it's soluble, that will rule out tin. If it is soft and not tin I would be (as you probably are) thinking Platinum.
All though it is not impossible, but a piece made from a sheet of 5lbs Platinum strikes me as a bit unlikely.
And treated like this in stead of stamped or pressed.

I feel like i'm shouting in a desert here.
You might be able to make some stannous acid from that tray... a tin plate? tin was commonly used in stead of silver. Take some filings, add HCl and test with your standard Au reference solution.
Then is it tin?

Aka tin. Test and find out.

but hey, almost weekend!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I know you said you tested it with a magnet, but have you tried testing for diamagnetism? If I take a silver ounce, or a silver dollar, and hold it on an angle and "slide" a neodymium magnet down the coin, the magnet will slide slowly down the coin. Almost like the coin is coated in honey. The magnet will slide down the coin much slower than a washer, or other piece of non magnetic metal with similar mass. I believe other metals such as copper, may demonstrate the same diamagnetism principals as silver in this application though.

Get a rare earth magnet and "slide" it down the platter. If it slides slowly, it may be a good sign.

Specific gravity test might clue you in better, if it's not an alloy & the odd shape & size doesn't prohibit weighing it.

Good Luck

I am in NorCal, North of SF near Clearlake Volcanos. If you're near me and you can help, hmu.

Its not tin. I help a MAP-Pro torch to this tray for a couple of mins straight. There was no char, no glow or evidence of melting.

Please do not post in all caps or bold.
It is like shouting and considered rude.

Ok - so you live in the Bay area --- there should be LOTS of "we buy gold & silver" shops all around the bay area

I am sure that at least "some" (even it is just a few) of those shops have an XRF

So I suggest that you start calling around to those shops & find one that has an XRF - take it to them & have them test it with their XRF

That way you can stop "guessing" what it is & stop asking us to "guess" what it is
