Have a question about dehydrated AP Solution.

I had some AP solution that I had used to recover some ram SIMM gold fingers. I used the wrong type of container a coffee pot. I could not get all the separated fingers out of the pot (1 lesson learned the hard way) so I washed them out using softened tap water due to the fact I did not have any...

Step by step instructions for AP processing circuit boards

...rather than syphoning, I can see through the side to tell what's going on, and also I can put the lid on and give it a shake if I need to. Perhaps I can just decant into another bottle to allow the CuCl1 to settle. But with my method I get very little loss of volume so I think I would still...

Newly created copper (ll) chloride leach vessel

Perhaps an idea to remove the iron handle, from the bucket, if you want to avoid iron in the AP. Edit: It will rust hefty.

    AP Colour Question

It is wise to process just one kind of material at any given time. Then you get the data and feel for that particular feed stock.

    transistors in HCl

yes you are absolutely right. I can't comment on nitrogen because I decided only on AP. yes you are right because for me AP is quite predictable, for example if there are metal needles I will always have brown copper or metallic copper deposits. This also works in the collection container with...

    Preparation for refinement

...majority of the tin - any remaining "traces" of tin will likely come out in the rest of the refining process particularly - if you use the CuCl2 (AP) to recover the foils the trace tin will be eliminated - if you use nitric to dissolve base metals to recover foils - most if not all trace...

Is Sodium hydroxide best solution to git rid of tin and lead?

You are dissolving gold with the H2O2. Use an air bubbler and add HCl. If you need faster results, use nitric, but your profit will be smaller. AP takes time. no need to refresh it, just rejuvenate with HCl and an air bubbler. Then you'll have the challenge to precipitate out gold or your...

My Plan - New to Refining. I would love a review please.

Do we want to try and tackle all of these steps in one thread? That will cover a lot of ground and some points alone could become very long if we can get the silent majority to pitch in. Sad to say, but too many just sit and take but seldom, if ever pitch in.

How do you know if AP solution is saturated?

The money for an air bubbler will pay for itself very fast, Peroxide is expensive and may dissolve some of your Gold. It will also prolong the life of the solution. Add a bit of HCl now and then.

AP Strip Yielding Interesting Finding - Suggestions Appreciated

Ive recently come into posession of a bunch of gold plated mil-spec hardware. Ive attached a picture of a before and after AP strip. I am finding that a soak in AP solution is releasing the gold plating from the metal perfectly. The odd thing is the "sheets" of gold have a silver colored...

    Learning newbie in E-scrap

Those are the kind of boards I use to keep a large barrel of AP for. Toss them in, pull out the bare boards when I need more room. Reduce the copper, melt it all to anodes and rum them in a copper cell. The clean copper is useful or sellable, and you have access to the gold from the slimes. The...

    Gday everyone

Found some info regarding the waste solution in that patent, can be treated with sodium peroxide to precipitate base metals after recovering Iodine with H2O2. I will say most of the compounds used in there are out of reach for me, will go the AP way for now once I've fully studied. M

Results from processing gold filled material

Thanks everybody. Does anyone know the ratio for the amount of AP solution needed for gold filled? I was able to find the ratio for the amount of nitric needed to dissolve copper/silver, but couldn't find the same for AP.

Im sure i over paid! But tell me what you guys think about this ebay purchase!

I've been trying to find one at goodwill. I guess I'll try Walmart. No peroxide, though? OK. I'll give it a try

    Introduction

The method you are referring to is called AP / Copper chloride leach, and does not need H2O2, once you understand how it works, you can make the start solution with H2O2, but that's not for beginners. In my opinion. air is most important, use an aquarium bubbler. Only put clean contat fingers...

    Bad Urea

Probably the best explanation I have heard for this. There could be good uses for this if one could learn to control it I would think. But it is beyond my know how. Ha… by quoting Dave’s post I see how they add that little number to the formulas… now if I can remember it …

Reclaim all or most metals dissolved in AR?

Copper chloride aka AP is meant for thin copper traces that dissolve relatively fast and release the gold plating from circuit boards. Thick copper takes a lot of acid and even more time. What kind of waste are you trying to recover copper and silver from? I run a copper sulfate cell and...

    Rhodium refining

...created metastannic acid. If that was the case, I would probably try some other method to either dissolve base metal (like HCl based leach like AP or AR - rhodium won´t dissolve that well even in AR), or de-plate Rh from the surface using some electrochemical methods (simply put - reverse...

    Mystery Solution Precipitates Ag20

Hi Some of my old solutions may have precipitated Ag20 after Sodium Hydroxide? The solutions were from an old AP HCL & Bleach and some peroxide bubbled for 6 days (PCBoards/Phone items) I got a Black powder and brown powder from filters, some of the solutions look to have Agcl? however the...

    Magnetics and non magnetics

...I’d like to process, several parts are magnetic like bands and clasps and I’m not sure if it’s steel, nickel, or iron. I have quite a bit of nitric on hand and I know it would be quicker to process this way instead of AP but I just didn’t know if there were any other reason why not to do that?

    Need information on acids

...what metals into solution? Once I have the foils, how do I get the gold into solution without Nitric if possible? Will that bring along any other metals? Most of what I've read and seen is using AP, at this point I'm pretty sure that is HCL/Peroxide for removing base metals, why go with HCL...

Step by step instructions for AP processing circuit boards

...As for the copper, I used to use gouging rods for burning out bad welds, a carbon rod coated in copper, to form an electrolysis cell. Removing enough copper to still be AP for reuse. Palladium in solution? Help I'm new

...really only need to add peroxide in the beginning to get started. Then using a small aquarium air pump to add oxygen and to keep the solution moving is the best way. As far as the sediment is concerned, I don't know. I've never added vinegar to my AP, so I don't know how that will effect things.
