Has any seen this type of percipitate from AR before?

On average, foils melted from gold filled run 12k to 14k. I have seen one that held up to 14k test but disappeared with 18k test. These were from gold filled that was ran in AP for several weeks (testing methods). I have always ran GF in nitric and distilled water. The foils then go straight to...

Help with potential profits of RAM scrap

...I accidentally put gold into solution, was way back when I first started gold recovery/ refining. When I noticed I was dissolving gold foils into AP I filtered the solution into a 5 gallon bucket. Sprinkled in some Smb...stump out. Put a lid over the bucket. Now something did precipitate...

Help with potential profits of RAM scrap

The dissolved (ultra-fine) gold will rapidly precipitate/cement onto the copper or other present base metals if copper is absent. If any peroxide remains, the Gold will dissolve again and immediately precipitate/cement once more. This cycle, which occurs at a very high frequency, will continue...

    Hello - seeking advice!

...be created in order to recover the (about) 1/3 gold value of these boards And - that is just looking at the gold value of the boards - it (the AP process) also does nothing to recover the palladium &/or silver values - MOST of which are found inside the components ON the boards - which again...

Step by step instructions for AP processing circuit boards

I started my AP with no peroxide and it took a while to start up, but it did eventually start. From reading, I understood that AP was a slow process, so I didn't care about adding another few weeks. I did one more test batch, but for that one I just grabbed some old solution and mixed it...

Aqua regia process post sulfuric stripping

...processes again. This is common for the newer people when reading and asking many questions. This isn't a bad thing so long as it isn't being applied as you go. Take a deep breath, relax and read about what you already know again. This as a habit will teach a better understanding of what you...

Just began processing small gold pins (low grade) - help please

One should keep the Nitric and Chloride based leaches separate. AP is "never" waste. As for the question, as long as the AR is active it can be used for treating pins and stuff you like to dissolve but don't like to use fresh acids on.

    Please I need your advise/help!

Hello Everyone, I appreciated all of you advises, help and sharing your knowledge with me. I took conclusion from all these information you provided kindly and I have to take into account all my possible options at this point what's the best way to continue my first experiment. What I have...

Separating Gold Precipitate from Base Metal Precipitates

Welcome to GRF. Would you have a picture of your solution? Iron in AP isn't that big of a deal. But seeing it could make it easier to decide your next move

Rh and Pd extraction and separation

How about trying a small batch with hot Copper Chloride aka AP and see if one can reach both the Tin, Copper and Zinc in one go. Maybe they need to be squished/flattened a bit first. Hot HCl with plenty bubbling may do the trick. Or maybe not. Take 100g or so and test.

    some questions before i start

Welcome to us. There is no need for distilled water in the AP process as you are using HCl which is high in Chlorides. The AP process is very easy and cheap and you really do not need to add much if any water. Just add a piece of corroded Copper and HCl, add air from an aquarium air bubbler and...

Step by step instructions for AP processing circuit boards

I have not removed any solder mask. There are times when I wish I had, but in general it will not be necessary. At least not for close cut fingers.

Ok general question on which process to use for different type of gold...

Etching solution is all copper2chloride (AP) or ferric chloride is. We just leave the boards longer as this allows it to work it's way under the gold and get at the copper. This in turn releases the gold layer for us to collect. The more you dig over time much of the chemistry starts to become...

Step by step instructions for AP processing circuit boards

I have had success processing large volumes of high quality pins/connectors in AP ~ 4.75 Kg total (in 1 Kg batches). You are right Shark, it was a pain. It would often "clump up" and form white crystals - to which I added another 1 gallon of HCL, while breaking-up the clump with a long rod...

Thanks for the words of wisdom and the boost in confidence. I feel pretty dumb right now. But it's all a part of learning i guess.

Gold fingers turning dark during HCl solder removal...

Fingers (well-trimmed) should be done in AP as Yggdrasil noted above. I’m doing 15 kg in batches of 1.5kg per 5 Gal pail; just pour 2 Gal of HCl (35% Muriatic Acid from hardware stores) into a bucket, add a splash (100 ml) of hydrogen peroxide from a pharmacy, pour in the fingers, and add a...

Ok then to proceed we have chosen cut fingers as the easiest it will be a good, (and relatively easy scrap-type to accumulate) scrap to start our AP learning process with. Lets start with an assumption that we have collected 2 pounds of closely trimmed fingers and we are ready to proceed...

Step by step instructions for AP processing circuit boards

Materials that may practicably be processed using AP are: Finger edges. Pins (older.) Top hats. Gold plated telecoms connectors. Processor legs/lids. Older gold plated boards. From a practicable perspective AP's uses for ewaste are in reality limited by yields, which shortens the list. For...

Yggdrasil, Thank-you for jogging my memory. I realized what i did now. (old man memory). I had 1 litre of AP (HCL+H2o2) and i added the 2 liters of sulfuric acid from my electro-stripping cell to the same bucket! DUGH! I see now that the volume in the bucket is about 3 liters. Wow - i need a...

Great to be here on the forum with you all!

Welcome O'Neil, I have a lot to do with Palladium, I find measurable amounts of this metal in Ewaste. I need to find an economical method for smelting small Quantities of Palladium. Step by step instructions for AP processing circuit boards

My biggest problem with AP is when it's running whole boards. Think HP or Textronix. I end up with a saturated solution with white precipitate as well as a lot of lead/tin from the solder. RIght now I have two five gallon buckets of what I thought was AR waste that I use as AP. Turns out...

Aqua regia process post sulfuric stripping

Peroxide is an oxidizer. HCl and an oxidizer dissolves gold. HCl and a strong peroxide can be used in place of AR, or HCl and nitric acid. For AP a 3% peroxide is the usual, but if you go to 12% or even 30% it will put very fine gold powders into solution. AP is HCl with a tiny bit of...

    Thoughts about stripping/deplating circuit boards.

...to provide anode contact with the cold plated portions of an otherwise bare (components already removed) circuit board. Right now, I'm using AP to dissolve base metals and release gold foils and that works, but I'm simply exploring the possibility of using a stripping cell to do the same job.

AP Waste Solution will not clear - dirty transmission oil

Welcome. You need to study more since you have your information mixed up. As Shark said the AP is actually a Cupric Chloride leach where the Copper is dissolved from under the foils. And AP is really never spent, it lives "forever" as long as it is not contaminated.
