Non-Chemical 14k questionz

Is there a method for refinging karat gold without using AR or having to go get sodium nitrate for poor mans method?
What about dissolving silver without nirtic, because i have a 1.2g 14k gold/silver piece i want to process. My bad if the topic has been discussed.

Study the forum.

There are some other methods (the Shor cell, e.g.), but they all require chemicals. Sodium nitrate is one of the cheapest and easiest to obtain. If you don't want the inconvenience of getting these chemicals and learning how to use them, you should find another hobby.

Dido. I just received a copy C.M.Hoke's book today. After talking with oldtimers (people who've been refining for a long time), reading this forum for months and assying my rocks for a while, I'm still going to take the time to read Hoke's book and ask questions before going to deep in refining. Then I will NOT take short cuts. Short cuts in chemistry is sometimes deadly. I worked in the medical field for a decade. Chemical burns and poisoning is not pretty.

I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone in this forum, but PLEASE do not take short cuts with chemicals.

another thing to consider is getting good at testing and buying and sell the karate gold, this could prove to be more profitable.and maybe greater turnover.
