I was reading on "Rare Earth Metals" in one of my Encyclopedias, and found the following info.

Misch metal, which is a mixture of all rare earths is alloyed with iron to make Aure metal, which ignites when scratched, and therefore is used as a flint in cigarette lighters.

I figured that this info would be of interest to those who would like to experiment with seperating, and possibly refining these metals.

Heck, if there is somewhere that I could sell this metal as is, I would be interested in saving them.

Is there anyone here with any knowledge of what this material would be worth, or where it could be sold?
Lighter flints are a common source for these metals.

Sincerely; Rick.

mischmetal is actually an alloy of irom and cerium. Other RE metals are separated, they are much more valuable. If you need any clue PM me.
