I will start by saying thanks to everyone that has and will contribute to this forum your knowledge and experience is worth a hell of alot more than any gold mine, that is unless you own 2 gold mines ha :) Well it seems I have hit a personal goal of refining a bar to 99.99999 :) the assay came out ti 99.999994 so needless to say my jaw hit the floor lol and needless to say I didnt belive that first assay so I have now sent it off again and hopefully it comes back in that same range :) My big question is what percent of spot should I expect to receiver? It never occurred to me to look at what might be expected at higher than mint standard lol.

Thanks again to everyone that has shared there knowledge and experience here. A pic of my bar will be posted after I get it back from my second assay. To all of you placer miners out there like me . Keep looking , keep dreaming , I t is out there waiting patiently for someone to come find it :)

Unless you have an end user I doubt you will get more than for 999 as the refineries will have the same problem. I would like to know how you achieved such high purity and how many times it was refined. If your assays are correct I think it's the knowledge of an excellent job done rather than a financial gain but again assuming the assays are right, well done!

Pshhh..... 7 Nines! I'm only impressed at 8 nines.

Seriously, well done, that is extremely impressive. Personally, i know if we received a bar that pure from a client, we would test, and re-test.... then probably check the calibration of the machine AND test one more time. (really only if the bar was like 50oz or more, we want to protect ourselves too)

As far as payment goes, I don't know anyone that would pay you spot (or a premium) unless they were gambling and using it as an investment. How big is it? I might just buy it off you. =)

However, to cash out at a refiner - we pay 99% for pure gold (no min. quantity), I can't speak for any other refinery though.

In my area I talked to a jeweler and he quoted me 94% spot so he can resell it at 96-98% spot. Everyone likes to make money from the money they put out. he also quoted me jewelery that he can resell, then he would give me 90% of his sellling price. I think that sounds fair to me but not sure if it really is. He also said the more we do business he can give me more % of spot.

Don't f*rt near it or it will drop 2 nines. How are you storing it - sitting on a block of 9 nines gold in a vacuum? I hope you have never touched it.

Hi guys , Its official it was a messed up assay lol . The real result is 99.994 lol still pretty decent. It is a five ounce bar, Basically that's what I shoveled this year :) . The first 2 oz of it was has had small portions of it refined a few times as I played with my new found hobby and honed my skills. Guess I will still chase the 9's just not for monetary gain  .

Its be a fantastic prospecting season so far , And I am looking forward to learning how to process the ore that I am finding while digging for the placer gold. It's nice stuff over 30oz a ton for the quartz and in the 6 oz a ton for the sulfides which I also learned about here lol , 500 kg of the ore's was assayed and the assayer then bought the resulting 18 oz he recovered at 97% of spot which was $1820 at the time :).

Need to make another trip or 2 out to my spot for more mining and exploration , but its looking like I will need to at least tenure the area so that it can be worked with something other than a shovel next spring. The money from the 23 oz that have been recovered so far this year should go along way to helping with that goal :). This first year of prospecting has far far surpassed my original goal of just 1 oz lol

Any ways time to get out and play in some gravel. There has been a report of gold thats not flour fine so its time to go check it out and see if its true :)

I'm not criticizing but, 99.994 even sounds iffy, for several reasons. That accuracy with fire assay isn't possible, since, under perfect conditions, all the definitive literature I've read says it's only accurate to 0.02%. So, the first obvious question is: What method of assaying was used to give that purity result? The second is: Can you outline the final purification method you used to get 99.994% pure gold?
