Hi guys,
My first post here as I'm a newbie to everything.. Many thanks for the great forum.

I'm in Europe and it's so difficult to get chemicals for the AR.
Recently I made an order from a supplier in Germany for the nitric acid and hydrochloric acid.
The supplier is asking me for an end-use declaration for the exact purpose of those chemicals.

I googled about the uses of both acids but nothing other than the aqua regia matches them together, and I don't feel that telling them about the refining thing is gonna be wise

Any ideas what shall I reply ?

Being prepared to let them know you know the safe handling of these chemicals, and your plan on dealing with waste properly may help when you talk to them.

It's a threshold for precursors for explosives and manufacturing of drugs. HCL is recently added to this list unfortunately. Its in category 3, which still allows some use be it in smaller volumes.
Those involved in these practices will not register, is the idea.
But you may get a visit from the government to check how you are dealing with the waste. (Read: how much money you're making and not reporting)

The supplier has to be able to prove who he sold the acids to.
It all depends on how liberal the officials are. Or how reactive or proactive.
In the netherlands the law only pays a visit when they get complaints of sewage pollution or smell from neighbors.
Only when they can not get around it and are about to loose face, they will act. If it's not too complicated.
Luckily the tax office here is a mess and police is to busy figuring out their computer systems
Having a hobby does not make us criminal.

As long as you work responsible, don't make too much money, buy jewelry from criminals, and not pay taxes on it  you should be safe...

And now i hope you're not actually a drug mfr or jihadist looking for tips...

Martijn.

Having said that, i just went to the store and got 30% HCL 5 liter jerry can for 17 euro without any questions asked... maybe not yet implemented yet.
I'm so glad i bought 5 liter of HNO3 in 2014. Stil quite a bit left.
