Have appx 400g of these, all new old stock parts.

Anyone have an idea if they contain anything worth extracting?

 
I have not refined any, but they appear to be ZNR's (transient noise reducer) and MOV (metal oxide varistor). Do some research and let us know what you find.

Now that I know what to look for, according to WiKi this is whats in them, nothing worthy of the effort to reclaim. Oh well.


"The most common type of varistor is the metal-oxide varistor (MOV). This contains a ceramic mass of zinc oxide grains, in a matrix of other metal oxides (such as small amounts of bismuth, cobalt, manganese) sandwiched between two metal plates (the electrodes)."
