I have a little over 2 lbs of gold plated pins. These pins are trimmed off the in the assembly processes. So basically they are the ends of gold plated pins. The diameter of the pins is pretty small. I have no idea how thick the plating is. There is a good chance I will be getting more of these pins in the future.
The pins are Magnetic.
I know I can sell them on Ebay. The problem is there are so many scammers there. I do not want to because one of the scammers. I have no problem selling on ebay I just want to make sure I list my item right. I want the most $$ for it but I am an honest person and do not want to rip anyone off.
Is it better to try and sell the pins here?
Any help would be great.

Here is a picture with an example of the pins with a penny for size.

Here is link to a much larger picture.

You would only be ripping off the bidders if you do not describe your items truthfully. If you have 2 pounds of pins, all the same, list them as such, with good discription and good photos. What they bring after that the market will decide. They may over pay, they may underpay. Either way it happens all the time in the auction world, and not just on the gold stuff.

Since the pins are gold plated just to keep them easy to solder there is most probably only gold flash on them, quite thin in other words. But the thin diameter compensates as there is less of base metal.

ebayers love pins... sell them on there... they will most likely over pay for them and the best part is you don't have to do any refining/waste chemicals/waste time and you will end up with more in the end.

Thanks for the help. I listed a small part on Ebay. 142 grams not sure why that is the magic number but seem popular. Plus a few people suggested that weight.

Yeah it's a strange amount, it works out to 5 Ounces Avoirdupois.

So the yield on 142 grams of pins is what, 0.1 gram? And it went for almost what a full gram of gold cost? Or is my math a total fail?

We should know in about 2 weeks.
I purchased the last batch listed on ebay and will be doing a measured test to determine the actual return on these.

So Tom I'm just curious how you did on these pins? He sent me a small sample a while back that yielded very well and now I just bought a pound. I hope they are the same as the 10 gram sample he sent. Seems like an honest man
