hey whats up people
remember i saturated my ap solution with copper to drop Au
I think geo said if it's black it most likely has no gold left

i have done 2 more processes since then( after the solution sat for about
a month
All seem ok as i am still recovering
my question is it all right to be black or should i make it green again
it still seems i recover less and less each process

PLEASE Harold, Butcher, Geo, Gsp, Palladium and all of the rest of you hard working refiners
don't answer this until i post pics of my stanous tests
Thanks steyr223

Do you add air to it ? Have you added any hcl to it besides what you started with ? How much solution are we taking about ?

steyr223,
The copper chloride solution can be stored as dark green liquid, but if reuseing it needs to be bright green, adding some 3% hydrogen peroxide or bubbling air into solution, if you are forming white copper I chloride powder, it indicates you need a little more HCl, re-read Laser Steve's document, it will explain how to keep your solution in working order.

Thank you for the replys
I have my testing solution
I guess the color is green somewhat
At the edges it's lighter

I have about 1/4 of a 5 gal bucket
Added about 50ml's of hcl before each process
I think 6 so far with this solution
And i added about 3 oz of peroxide 3%
After the 4th process

that purple stain means something is in the solution. Harold has taught me that silver can give a purple stain. you may want to see if you can take a sample (say a quart jar full) and add a little salt first, if you get no reaction, try a little SMB.

steyr223,
If you plan on reusing the acid peroxide solution, no need to add sodium metabisulfite, if you have too much hydrogen peroxide you can have gold in solution giving you the violet color in your test, you may also notice a yellow ring of the solution at the top of the solution along the vessel wall, silver should not be soluble in the hydrochloric acid solution, reusing the copper II chloride solution to dissolve more copper will push any dissolved gold from solution (as long as you do not add too much peroxide again).

edited used the wrong word.

Thanka geo
I did not have time to post all I wanted to
say. sorry
This is my test from my known gold

It worked!!! I can even see the purple
Now i can get on with this
My previos question "where is my gold"

I have not pin pointed where but i believe one of my
Previous posts i stated powder in my filter but not
In my a/p
I had just completed the task of chasing my gold mixed
With tin from a previous batch so i thought this powder
was more tin ,i believe this to have been my gold
Thanks steyr223

Thanks butcher
Previously i tried to saturate my solution with
A lot of copper just to make sure but this time
I can actually test it

nice butcher my friend cant get off the floor
wouldn't that imply that there is either stannous chloride
or maybe tin in my carpet

Of course there is another possibility  someone could have been
brushing there teeth nearby

thanks guys

Thank you for showing us all pictures of the carpet spill. Most of us don't like to admit our mistakes, but all he new people out there need to see things like that.

One question though, what is the discoloration on your hand? Did it spill on your hand too? Not trying to be rude or call you out, just want to stress the importantance of proper PPE.

Keep learning and thank you again for sharing!

theres tin in solution. the stain appears when it dries. havent you ever filtered your dissolved gold and rinsed the filter clean only to see it turn purple when it dries?
