Ok .. someone please cut to the chase. I have these 3 C8080As. 75,76,77 Malaysia. Good, bad, or average value ??

2 questions.

1. Does the M - Military version drive a huge collector premium .. like $1500 on ebay ?!?

2. Any idea on value on these .. I've been searching the internet for hours and can't find any good price references.

Thanks,

I typically see properly-protected Intel C8080s in operating condition selling for $30-$50. There are 4 for sale right now on eBay for $150 each - but they also look a little rough - and the seller has them displayed on a plastic table with no ESD protection at all! They're practically guaranteed to be "dead bugs".

Edit - BTW - the 8008 and the much-improved 8080 definitely do have some chip collector interest - and many collectors of the early PCs want the whole machine, working. I actually built an 8080-based PC after I got out of the Army, while taking a correspondance course in microcomputer repair. The machine was a Heathkit H8 - not really too impressive a computer - even in its day.

Thank you for the information. I had never even considered the potential functionality of the chip .. hmmm .. just the Au value.
