From first insp. these don't look gold, but the silver spring connectors do have gold, and the aluminum covered chips have silver bumps that test with nitric. can this be pl? If anyone has ever worked them I would really like to know yeilds. Thanks for any imput.

From my experience with these boards they are very high grade. If i recall correctly those chips have possibly have palladium. I remember buying a 1000lbs a year ago and received a great price on them.
 
Sorry know nothing about e scrap but one thing I can tell you is that nitric won't touch platinum even cold AR has little to no effect on it. Given that fact e scraps reply could well be correct that palladium might be there.
 
I haven't dealt with those IBM boards since the mid 70s. They do contain platinum group metals. In about 1975, some of these were worth about $7/pound. In looking at the price charts, Au, Pt, and Pd are all about 8 or 9 times higher today than they were in 1975. They are not easy to process.
 
Anyone want to give me an offer. This is over my head. There are 19 lbs of these, also have two or three hundred lbs of old hp main frame and medical boards. Also kicking my butt. I live in Okla. City.
