hey guys i have 1 question. i picked up some free mother boards and video/modem cards i have a whole stack of them. i picked them up from a barn and they are dirty and have some dirt on them. i will try to rinse them off with water but if im not able to wash all the dirt out will it effect my PM recovery from those boards??

yes organic dirt from outside, field, ground, if so how will it effect it?
 
viktor 1984, you might have a long list of types of contamination along the processes running even clean scrap. why to wash everything? grab the good stuff and wash only that
 
Just rinse them in warm water or leave them out in the rain. Thats what I do with cruddy boards that I find when dismantling computers.
You can tell when dirt killed the machine.

One trick we used to clean boards was a dishwasher. PCBs can be submersed in water and washed as long as they were oven dried after. Since you don't plan to re-use the motherboards and cards you don't need to be so critical about the drying after.
