does low quality gold turn green with acid???

if i use 14k solution on a 7k button should it change color turn a light green....i melted a gold plated item with a 14k gold item and got a big blob(i didnt realize it was plated tell after)....the mizar and gxl says its 7-8k....would low quality gold like this mixed with alot of copper turn slightly with acids over its karat???

It is the base metals that the acid reacts with in any karat gold
being tested.I would think that 7-8K would bubble up green pretty quickly with 14K acid.
