double sided DVDs

ive recently come across a sample of dvds with gold plate the guy i got them from knows that they have gold evaporated onto them. you can see through one side of the dvd,flip it over and its like looking into mirror. has anyone ever seen anything like this , any idea on gold content?

Memorex Pro Gold DVD's suposedly have a 24-karat Gold Reflective Layer but dont know if thats truth and even if it is truth I doubt that it will be viable to use any chemicals on them...

these dvds are straight from the manufactrer the companys called cinram.the guy that gave them to me said the shred the and send them back to GE but that can be changed.
