im curious as to why more people are not recovering the silver from the eisenhower silver dollar ( 1971-1976)
at 40% silver per coin thats a $ 13.00 silver value at todays market and yet they are only selling for $2.00 each on ebay......am i missing something here ?

so what your saying is including those same years 1971-1976, other eisenhower dollars were produced that werent 40% silver ?
well i knew there was a good explanation to my question...thanks

jimdoc is correct. Only "presentation" Ike dollars are 40% Ag. The rest (and those being the overwhelming majority) are the same bimetal sandwich as are everyday quarters and dimes.

I think they were only S mint marks, and they were sold in special packs or the 3 piece mint sets.
If you check a Redbook you can see what ones were silver. If you can find the silver ones for $2 each, I would say buy them. I think a lot of the buyers may have slot machines that use that size dollar coins, and I guess it is getting harder to find them at the banks.

Here is the list from the Redbook;
71-S
72-S
73-S (there was also a copper nickel clad S)
74-S (there was also a copper nickel clad S)
76 (there was also a copper nickel clad) I think 40% silver only in the 3 piece set.
76-S (there was also a copper nickel clad S)

Check Coinflation.com, they have the weight of the silver & nonsilver ones.

P.S.
"The copper-nickel version weighs 22.68 grams, the silver Ike dollar weighs 24.59 grams."

I bought a set of coins I thought were silver thinking I got a great deal on them. Turns out the were regular circulation. Atleast they are PCGS graded.
