New to forum, and might be on wrong site completely. I hunt/detect for gold and silver but do not have my own business and my "finds" are not regular. I was hoping to get recommendations for an honest, fair pay out refinery to sell my scrap and finds. Clearly my "volume" does not compare to the weights I have seen discussed by the precious metals dealers and members. I have looked at a number of "on-line" We Buy Gold sites and they are a bit shady and their payouts per pennyweight are often quite poor. I belong to a few metal detecting sites and they suggest refineries as the best place to sell! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. TS

I don't know of any refineries that deal with the public. This is due to the anti-money laundering laws.

Some members on this forum buy gold and silver, post the city where you live and someone may be close enough for you to deal with them personally. If not, maybe by mail.

That's not necessarily true. They will deal with the public, you just have to be willing to fill out paperwork.

It seems that it's possible to sell to the refineries but they need details to complete the deal so they comply with the law, seems fair to me as we can all have enough aggravation from government bodies if the paperwork isnt right, perhaps for many the time neede to do that isn't worth the value of the deal. The advice to post what you have to sell on here with pictures might be your best bet, at least you can see what is the best offer from the members and as stated you might find a local buyer.
