After particulating the gold from Ar and filtering it there is a fine white/light tan powder in the beaker what is it and how do I get rid of it if it is not a noble metal?

There is no need to filter AFTER precipitation. Let everything in the beaker settle for 24hrs, test with stannous to ensure all gold has dropped out of solution, siphon off the spent solution then clean the powder. This will get rid of any other impurities. There is a tutorial for cleaning the powder in the tutorial forum.
