Has anyone tried using the fume trap for using nitric acid in Hoke’s book on page 42? I want to use nitric acid but I plan on doing it outside. I was also thinking of using a small fan to more quickly disperse the fumes away from my direction.

I usually use a bottle with a lid. This way i can control fumes and open it in the fresh air for some time to let fumes go.The gap can also be adjusted so i can control the amount of fumes. :)

This is not exactly what i use cause the entrance should be wider but it is the best photo i've found.

Thanks for the reply. I guess your just corking the reaction. But with the Hoke picture the water actually absorbs the deadly fumes.

Has anyone tried to use her method?
