Wow, is there some MISINFORMATION out there!

I just talked with a guy that is firm on believing that this lot of processors contains ONE TROY OUNCE of gold......
2012-06-23_19-01-19_466.jpg

He told me that he had this lot of processors that have 1toz (after processing), plus a bunch of cards, etc to sell me.

I explained that we don't go out unless the payout is >$250, or we charge $50 for the trip (a disclaimer I always tell those that say they have $$$$$$ - many times it shuts them up fast....), he was OK with that, so I went - excited to see this something like 6 pounds of Pentium Pros or something (though all he had was the above  .....

He did have a bunch of motherboards, gold finger cards and over 5 lbs of ram, so the total that I paid him was $345. At least, not a wasted trip!

Now, what about that ONE TROY OUNCE?

Well, he said that he'd looked it up on the internet (first indication...) at various locations, one being some Australian site (I dunno...), but when he told me he found a .pdf on the GRF, I just knew I had to post this! I think it may have been one of those .pdfs that the great moderators we have 8) keep having to trim out - maybe he got a copy of it before it was nixed?

Although this is a nice lot, it certainly does not contain 1toz - (and, if it did, why in the world would he sell me the whole load for $345????? and, just the processor price is around 1/6th of that :!: ) I welcome anyone to look it over and give your opinion, and I'd really like to find anyone that has a link to any document on this forum stating this lot has that much in it - and give that link so we can get it removed (or, you could simply PM me and I'll give you a Paypal address where you can send the money for the 1toz  - I'll ship OVERNIGHT!)

It's really a no brainer. Even if there were 31 processors that would mean that each chip would have to yield 1g. None of those processors will yield half that.

Also, I wouldn't trust anyone on yields that hasn't actually processed CPU's. Matter of fact, I am not sure who I would trust on yields. I was shocked when I started processing some of the material I had accumulated. Stunned. I thought I was going to yield a lot more than I did. CPU's are great to run, and the yield is good, but I think there is a lot of misinformation about just how much gold you can recover from them.

This may help with part of where it came from.

Misinformation is precisely why cpus go for so much on ebay. That and everything else on there.

I just want to say thank you for posting this. And an even bigger thank you for doing your part to keep this forum accurate!

I personally have not yet processed my ceramic CPU's or any CPU's ever, but even I wouldn't think that could yeld over 8 grams, and in reality it's probably much lower than that. The difference between 8 grams and 31.1 grams is huge and could cost someone new to this hobby a lot of money. Thank you again!
