I've been reading all I can on this amazing forum for the last week or two. The more I read the more I understand I know nothing 
Figured I'd say hi and thank everyone for being such a reliable information source for a beginner.
I'm interested in reclaiming gold from scrap electronics. I've got quite a collection of old and slightly newer motherboards + CPU's here due to my other hobby of fixing PC's for people at work and through family.
I recently purchased 4.8kg of 'MIL spec gold plated connectors' (photo attached) which I think will be an easy start to learn with in small batches.
I picked myself up an Organic Chemistry (distillation) set for cheap from an online website. I plan on using this to help purify and extract OTC chemicals from hardware store supplies. Safety wise I've got Tyvek suits, respirators classed for use with acids (I know it doesn't get them all), full face masks, heat and chemical resistant gloves and I'm very close to having a HEPA rated fume extraction system.
Reading the forums, collecting MSDS's, about to read Hoke, watching a lot of videos on chemicals/acids I will be needing to get refining.
It's a start...
