Thank you for the example. After looking at mine I'm guessing that is considered a big hole so I shall order some screen that you talked about. Or what brand is it that has the small holes that is of good quality? The one I got was just a cheap $40 off Amazon. But then again it may come in handy with the bigger holes washing off stuff that comes out of the hydrochloric acid bath with a bubbler to spray off the chips into before they get thrown away.
Can you elaborate your process?
What chips and so on?

The little pinless CPU chips. When the gold comes off of them it's about the size of a tip of a pencil lead. I've been putting them in the hydrochloric acid with a bubbler. But the little dots of gold seem to clean on to the chips. But I was noticing the gold getting passed the filters and could see them down in the hydrochloric acid. After the first initial filtering I switched to a different jar with the filter and spray each little chip off to get the gold off of it. That way my acid is still good for another run and not watered down. Maybe later on I'll learn a different process but for now just starting out I'm going to stay with the basics.

Ok.
But those dots are so small there are next to no Gold in them.
They are probably the lowest yield you can get.
Depending on the rest if the design there may or may not be Gold bond wires.
Then they need to be pyrolized and incinerated.

Any hardware store will have fiberglass window screening and that is what you need. Coors ceramics in Golden Colorado, yup the same as the beer company, makes the best Buchner funnels but you pay for the quality. They have offices all over the world.

Glass speed funnels, try this guy

I had one which was very old which I acquired from a clean up at the old US Mint assay office in NYC. The assay office closed in the early 1980's and it was like a museum as all it did was gravimetric assays. The funnels were probably 100 years old. The grooves were much deeper and it was awesome. Until gravity kicked in and it became a million shards of glass. The newer ones still have grooves just not as pronounced.

The reason a typical smooth glass funnel is not as fast is the paper seals flat on the glass and the liquid cannot pass through it efficiently. Simply lifting the paper so it cannot seal to the glass and can drain after going through the paper makes it very effective. Gotta love simplicity.

Oh yes they are absolutely low yielding. But they were also cheap. I got 20 lb for $150 worst case scenario I can get about half of my money back from the copper heat sinks. But the ideal was for a learning experience. Like most people that join this these days are setting on a bucket of junk that they've mixed together watching YouTube and they are getting little to no gold. That was me when I joined :) so now after lots and lots of reading on here two other books which I do not recommend, and reading on Hoke's book I am slowly learning the proper ways so my yield is not tied up and a bucket of toxic junk. This weekend I weighed out 50 g of gold filled material , that is where I'm at in the book. I'll post a little picture of my last six experiments which were all low low amounts. I figure when I get up to about 2 g then I'll go back in the book and in court it and do that experiment
