Anyone hear of / dealt with these guys before? It looks like they are doing some pretty high end stuff although it might be normal stuff to some on the forum.
Anyway, I was contacted by them looking for some of the material where I work and I wanted to do some background before I get too far into speaking with them.
They are looking to get a hold of our disposable thermocouple ends. If they don't go to this guy I may be able to get them, but I am not sure it is worth it to go after myself. Currently they go to landfill. They are Type S as near as I can tell (http://heraeus-electro-nite.com/media/webmedia_local/media/downloads/steel_2/temperaturecontrol/temperature_wvdp_2000.pdf ), but the tasty bit at the end (near as I have been able to measure with calipers) is only .002 inches in diameter and about an inch and a half long and is connected copper contacts. Best I can figure (with a fair degree of error) is I would need 600-800 to equal a gram of platinum. The thermocouples come from Haraeus' Electro-Nite division http://heraeus-electro-nite.com/en/sensorsformoltenmetals/iron/temperaturecontrol_1/temperaturecontrol_2.aspx (for example). We have other types here as well, but many of them end up with the pm part encased in cast iron rather permanently...
Either way, does anyone know if these guys at Going Green are worth talking to? Are they a broker that feeds a refinery that I should be speaking to? The guy that I spoke with briefly was out of Alexandria, VA, but it looks like they are based out of Texas.
If these guys are unknown or not the right way to go, does anyone on the forum have any direct experience / desire for material like this? If so, we can talk further about it.
Any info would be a help.
Thanks,
Kevin
