GOLD CONTACT POINTS

hi there
after looking at a nmber of things with my microscope i noticed that it seems that there is considerably more gold on contact points that are plated . what are gold plated contacts plated to ? looks like a silver color unsure it it is silver though . any ideas. and does anybody have any yeld data for gold plated contact points etc?

The small gold plated points on relays usually have a silver base.
