HD motor with gold contacts.jpg

I think this is an odd array of contact points on this motor. I have about 20 motors I kept with contacts like these but only this one has so many. the others only have 4 on each. I know if it is gold it is a very tiny amount and this motor is a good example of just how thin gold can be. You can not see the edge in any way. You can just hardly feel the edge of each contact with your finger nail.

once I build up a collection of these, what would be the way to get the plate off?

Seeing it is so flat and easy to get to would scrapping be an option?

Peel foil off motor, these contacts are printed on foil and treat that in AP.

So its like gold tape in a way?

that sounds easy enough. I'm gonna keep them on the motors for now because I think I have about 200 more in my HD stack and then i could do them all at once. from what i read so far its best to do like things together.

No it is not gold tape. What you see is kind of foil, plastic stuck on your motor. Contact points are usually copper with gold plating on top.
I just peel whole piece off that motor and treat that with fingers in AP.
