I have couple of wood stove gold plated doors can the gold be remove off these is it worth my while

I am not sure it would be worth it? can you sell them or the woodstove? I would think they may not be gold, they may be brass? and if gold may be very thin layer,if you do persue the gold, I would test to be sure they were gold plated, if truely gold and it may be hard to get the gold off, with all that Iron, maybe electrowinning in large cell, brine cell, or concentrated H2SO4, would be something to consider.

Somewhere on the forum is a book written by Watt, Electroplating.

In the last chapters instructions for stripping gold and silver off of plated goods, and recovery of same. I suggest you find a copy and read it.

If these doors are in good shape and came off an old wood burning stove, I would strongly suggest you try to find a restrorer to sell them to. They may have $3.00 worth of gold plating on them, but could be worth $300.00 to the right guy.
