I am new to this and I advertise free pick up of electronics to get my goods. Also pick at the local dump. I got a call and picked up this stuff. Anybody familuar with anything you see? Opened up a couple boxes and found what apears to be alot of gold. Some of the boards appear to have gold circuits and some silver looking .

For someone who has a unit they wish to repair, if you can offer 3x parts units, that can be a very attractive item. Seems like you have some duplicates. You can search ebay for "completed auctions" but these only go back about 15 days so they don't cover much ground. Occasionally you can also find buyers for "as is" pieces on forums if you carefully search. The amount of gold you are likely to get out of any one unit is pretty small, and three units, also small. So if you can sell repair units for $20 each, I think you will find buyers and you'll beat what the gold yield would be. You'll spend some money or time packaging them, though.

if you do scrap them, that oscilloscope in the middle of that stack looks like one that i scrapped. the CRT tube may have a gold coating on the inside.most of the ones i scrapped did.

Thanks Geo,
Have you tested this plating to verifying.

yes. 22K test solution didnt react. AR did and stannous was a deep purple, almost black. GSP has spoken about this, apparently years ago and the info went to the wayside. look here http://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=13582Picture 046.jpg

heres a picture showing test area. Q-tip is in my filter bag.

The only thing you know right now is that it is gold and there would be no reason for the gold to be anything but pure. 99% of all the gold on electronics is at least 99% pure. The trick is to know the thickness, but all thicknesses look the same. I guess the only way to know the value is to refine some of it.

I'll try to find some this week and get on it,as soon as I get time to breathe.
