I was wondering with a graphite melting dish how much borax do i use if any when melting refined silver and do i let the silver just get hard in the dish.I never used a graphite dish so was wondering .

Are you sure you are not using a mold to try and melt in? You might consider posting a picture of what you are using so you ca get a correct answer to your question.

It had been discussed here before, try perform a search about melting in a mold.

It will not be wise to let metals cool in any kind of melting dish, it will stick to it. with or without glazing.
That is the main reason why metals are poured out to a mold.
The molds (either graphite or cast iron) are substantially colder then the melting dish and also preconditioned with soot or burned motor oil. These conditions help the metals solidify faster and those help liberate the metals from the mold easily, the type of mold material is of less importance in this perspective.

I don't know how you melt your silver, but if you do torch melting in a graphite crucible will shorten it's life cycle dramatically...
