Hi Everyone!

My first post here and I would like to give my thanks to the many great minds I am finding here on this wonderful subject of refining precious metals.
About me, I have a background in IT and engineering. In the old days I did allot of hardware repair work on high end systems for an exceptionally evil multinational company. I was always amazed at the amount of precious metals that were recovered in house. It took me a long time and a spinal injury to put the dots together that brought me here.
I did have some chemistry in university though its been a long time it has always been close to my heart as an interest.

Unfortunately I live in a country that makes it exceptionally hard to get concentrated acids so I am forced to synth my own HCL and nitric acids as well as concentrate my own So4. Its a real pain but I stay positive as this should make me a better refiner in the long run.
I do have great access to nearly free scrap electronics, I also collect and trade precious stones and am interested to try designing some jewelery pieces from my own reclaimed precious metals.
Im still in the de-population and sorting stage but I have a good starter stash to play with.
My plan is to go slow, keep it simple, keep it ghetto (no choice) and have as much fun as I can in the process.
CM Hoke's book is a great resource that has really helped me put my start up plan in order. I am still reading and re-reading and reading again.

I promise that I will not spam the board with stupid questions but Im going to need some good advice at some point on how to make the most out of my precious acids, find workarounds and keep my mini lab efficient and safe.

Its great to be here !

Welcome to the forum Dave.

Another Dave, How can we keep up with them all? Just do not yell Dave we would have a stampede on our hands.

Good to see you are on the right track.

Sounds like your going to get along great here on the forum, many of us like to study and learn how to make due with what we have to, in order to keep our lab supplied, to recover and refine our materials, many times with work around methods, and share the tricks we learn.

Reading through the forum is a goldmine of information.

Members who study, helping members who study, sharing with each other our ideas, and what we learn.

Welcome.
Hope to learn from you, and we are willing to help you where we can.

Thank's butcher,

There is so much interesting information here by so many great minds on the subject. I have to kick myself for not getting into it earlier. Who would think that inorganic chemistry was fun ?!
Complements on your "2 birds with one stone " post I just read. Genius!! That just solved my latest problem.
Its great to be here and find so many Dave's as well :) !

hello Dave from Dave in Canada :D

we could give each Dave a number and assign it to there user name
