I've been using sulfuric from Duda's Chemical and it has always been clear. Read here that Rooto from a hardware store is the same. It's $21 for a gallon vs Duda's $12 a liter, so I got a gallon. It's kind of a brownish color. Is that just dye or something or did I get the wrong thing?

It seems so. From Wikipedia:
Sulfuric acid (alternative spelling sulphuric acid) is a highly corrosive strong mineral acid with the molecular formula H2SO4. It is a pungent-ethereal, colorless to slightly yellow viscous liquid which is soluble in water at all concentrations.[4] Sometimes, it is dyed dark brown during production to alert people to its hazards.[5]

Thank you for the information. Didn't occur to me to check Wikipedia. In any case, it seems to work fine.
