For the last few years we have just crushed our hard drives with the boards left on them. Our buyer at the time had told us the value of the drive would be less than half if we removed the boards. Well I've asked around and have found a buyer that will pay .76 a pound for crushed drives, boards removed. So we had a bunch of drives stacked up and today we pulled the boards. There is almost 80 pounds of boards from these 500 or so drives. Holy cow! So once I haul in the gaylord full of crushed drives I can compare and see if we can come out ahead by pulling the boards. BTW, it took 3 hours for three of us to pull all the boards and crush the drives.

Using boardsort's prices as my comparison and the price I get for high recovery aluminum here in town I found I can make about $20 an hour by taking the boards out. Makes it well worth my time to strip them

I have found that boardsort.com pays pretty good for the logic boards from hard drives. I would think it would be a lot more profitable to remove them.
