I need some help identifying crystals that have formed in my HCL. I used 31% HCL (Muriatic) acid in the Crock Pot with the temp set to low for 24 hrs. I was processing a batch of mixed memory sticks that had the fingers removed and the fiberglass base had been totally depopulated, so I just had clean boards with any potential soldier and no soldier mask. After the 24 hours, my HCL was a clear brown, and all the boards had small white crystals. The crystals are insoluble in water.

Any ideas as to what they are and how to treat them if they are something I need to recover and or treat prior to disposal

I really appreciate the input and am looking forward to reading what you each have to say.

Rainmaker,

Just a guess, but it may be a lead compound from the solder that was left behind on the boards.

Do you have a photo?
