Hi....

I am really excited about the possibilities that this forum provides......

I have some print catridges and some computer boards which I have collected.....

First problem is identyifying what is and what is not gold.... is gold magnetic? I don't have any chemicals as of yet and will accepty any and all help as to what I need to get....

I thought I could burn off plastics using a mapp torch but maybe chemicals are easier....

OK.... thats enough for now../../ just hglad to be aboard and hopefully I can someday be a resource for you also....

Welcome to the forum!

The best help anyone can offer at this point is to advise you to read. Read the forum, and read Hoke's book on refining. She will teach you the basics, including how to test for precious metals, and how to handle acids. She covers testing quite well, so pay particular attention to what she teaches.

I highly recommend you not incinerate plastics. The gasses from plastics tend to be quite toxic, to say nothing of the black smoke that is sure to attract unwanted attention. Many of the readers have posted methods to deal with these types of wastes----which you can discover by reading the forum.
