Hello everyone, as the subject says I'm new to this forum so I'm full of questions. In reading one thread I saw where someone suggested downloading a copy of Hoke's book. I got the impression this book may be something like a beginners guide. If it is I need it, where do I download this from?

I'm most definitely a do-it-yourself type of person and a long time PM bug. Before having to go on disability I worked for 20 sum years installing and maintaining supermini computer systems, the last 7 years were mostly installing and maintaining network systems. When starting out we were still using core memory (late 70s-early 80s). When I think of all the backplanes with thousands of pins and 15 inch boards that made up the system that I just threw away I wonder how much gold I threw out over the years. I'm guessing the older equipment had more gold in it for a couple reasons.

Now I've been holding onto some CPU chips, some older PC boards and memory along with 4 or 5 old cell phones that I can not get myself to toss out because of hearing there is a small amount of gold in these. Is there something like a beginners guide for recovering PM from old electronics?

Thanks for any answers or help,
Bill

Thanks Jack, This could turn into something very interesting and perhaps profitable.
