Hi my name is Tommy and im from Dublin. I have to say i am now fascinated after reading hoke's and even went and invested in some dvds that im waiting to receive from lazersteve :) I have to say im a bit confused at times reading the book but hopefully it all makes sense once i start having a go at it....Fingers crossed i wont have too many silly questions for you guys and with any luck i will someday get to post a photo of a button ive just melted :)

Hey Ireland.
I'm BS. from Pennsylvania in the USA.
The book is slow and old but teaches everything needed to begin the journey to catching that pot o'le gold. Read through all the posts you can here in the forum as there's a ton of tricks and treats and tid bits that help alot. Are you buying gold or e-waste? I'm on the hunt for e-waste only because that o'le mighty dollar gets spent faster then I can find it.
Good luck and have at it.

thanks panther.. ive been collecting some karat gold and scrap silver. i was hoping to be able to get my hands on a few cats as well. not sure where exactly i could get my hands on some e-scrap...but i wouldnt mind giving that a go too. i think ive learned more about chemistry in the last couple of weeks on here than all my years in school and im loving it.

Take a day two and walk around shops which repair computers. Check ads too. Most of them will send you away but few will give you their unwanted or broken stuff. I had some success over here in Limerick and few shops call me from time to time to collect whatever they do not need. Be prepared that they will be giving you monitors and printers, but the best is not to refuse anything as if you take it free it is always something nice in there and couple of destkops or laptops too.

thanks for the advice patnor...good to see another member from Ireland :) sure ill give that a go and see what comes of it. i was wondering if i could approach some of the guys in Dublin city council bring centers for their escrap.

I do not recommend this unless you do know them personally. That scrap do have owner it go away and they get paid for that. They will not give anything away free. And there is no point to offer them anything as they will not risk losing job for few euros. :)
