Hey everyone. Names Kev, Kevin, Kevmau5.

Recently got interested in the gold refining processes and came across this site. It was recommended as the best for this sort of thing by a writer over at instructables.com

when I get the chance I'll have a look around the site.

Anyway, a big welcome to me :D

Welcome Keven,

You might want to take the site tour. There are also some e-books you might want to read, one in particular is C. M. Hoke, Refining Precious Metal Waste. It will not only help you learn about what we do here, but it will also allow you to understand and use the terms we do here so that you can communicate without issues.

This is truly a one of a kind forum, very unique. You have home refiners and hobbyists rubbing shoulders with professionals and experts. There is no other site like it.

Thanks for the welcome and tips. I've downloaded and started reading C.M Hokes book that you mentioned and have bookmared a few others alongside that. It's actually a good read.

The reason I'm interested in refining gold is that for a few years now I have worked at a small recycling centre / landfill site (we don't actually recycle the stuff there. It get's sent off to other companies for that. We just collect what the general public dont want). So the oppertunity for finding computer components / anything electrical aswell as mobile phones and ACTUAL jewellery for refining (or sending elsewhere for refining) are quite great. A great job.
I have in the past sent off some pieces of gold that I have found at work and got a great deal for them. Refining my own however is something that would interest me. I know i'm not going to get rich quick, but the task of doing it seems challenging yet fun at the same time.

I'll probably have a few questions once I'm finished the book. Hell I might not even try it after reading it!

Found my first Gold topped ceramic processor today! I have a couple of ceramic ones I have collected whilst digging through stuff at work. I must say, they really are a piece of art. When I get round to doing some refining for myself, I don't think I'll touch the ceramic ones. They're far too good looking.

The crown jewel of my collection that I speak of is : Ceramic Cyrix MII

I would put up a photo but...you guys know what they look like.
