I have 300 troy ounces of sterling silver. I figure rather than be crazy I would try to purify in batches of 100 Toz. From all of my reading, to refine 100 troy ounces of sterling I will need 50ml of 67% nitric acid per troy ounce of sterling mixed with 50ml of distilled (heated) H2O for a total of 100ml per troy ounce.
100 troy ounces = 10,000 ml or 10 liters = 3 gallons of 50/50 solution per 100 troy ounces.
Does this sound right?
I also read that 1g of copper displaces 3.4g of pure silver so I will need almost 2 pounds of copper to cement 100 troy ounces of sterling?
Somebody help...my head is spinning...
