so im sitting here nursing a pretty bad sliced finger with 8 stitchs. stupid me didnt put my work gloves on!! safety first right. well im looking at my bucket of stuff that i removed off of boards and noticed that this shows either gold covered leads or brass. not sure yet. hoping to find information about it but dont even no what its called.

Its a Caddock resistor, and yes they plate the leads with gold. I've got several hundred, but their value to me is as a resistor. One or two oodd values, or if they are used, and they would get processed by me. Caddock makes high resistance/high voltage components for everything from Avionic radars to nuclear test instruments, and when necessary, they plate the leads with gold.

Just the leads. Caddock made the gold leads originally for the space program, but continued with them as avionic and medical manufacturers came asking for them.

I've sold some on eBay in the past - some South Korean audiophiles bought most of them.
