So the other day I tried to process gold plated pins and foils with aqua regia and then after that was done I tried to precipitate the gold with sodium metabisulfite when I did nothing happened so I added a little bit more sodium metabisulfite then nothing happened so I left it overnight and today I tried to check it and I was left with white crystals on the bottom nothing else question what are the white crystals and where is the gold? There are pictures see attach:

I have a couple of questions.

Did you test the solution with stannous chloride to see if you had gold in solution before you added the sodium metabisulfite?
Have you tested the solution after adding the sodium metabisulfite?
Testing will tell you if your gold is in the solution or in the precipitate. Without testing, we could only guess where it is.

Are you doing this in your home?

yes i did test with stanious chloride it had gold in it and the second test after pricip is unclear because of the amount of sm added but i think it is a neg for gold but the question if it pricipitated then why is it in the form of white crystals? Yes doing it from home but outside and yes i used a 3:1 of hc and concentrated nitric acid and used urea first till there was no ore reaction
