I've been around computers my whole life, fixing them since I was 10 or so. Now I've started researching on how to recycle e waste. My 1st trial, turned a 13 gallon trash bucket into all a huge black gooey mass... Hi 35% and Hydrogen peroxide mix. Though unmasking random boards with inductive heat (a hot plate), caustic soda (100% Lye- Drain cleaner, Water, and time, helped me to learn where gold was and wasn't (yellow gold "enig" plating.). So I started looking for help and found this forum, thankfully & way grateful!

Any help what so ever, with learning the "poor man's" way of processing & recovery, Is highly welcomed, please and thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

Stop jumping from airplanes without learning what a parachute is and how to use it. would be my suggestion.

Study how to deal with toxic waste, so that you can recover your values and deal properly with the mess you have made.
Put away the chemicals and learn first.

The information is here on the forum and members are willing to assist, but it takes work and study and years to gain the skills if you wish to learn it's here.

You can learn how to get out of one mess by asking questions, but that just leads up to your next mess and another round of questions of how to get out of it and so on.

Or

You can study and learn the skills needed to succeed and when things do not go as planned you will have the understanding needed to get out of any mess and be well on your way to recovering and refining metals.

Nicely written.

With proper understanding of basic principles of reactivity and basic inorganic chemistry, you will be able to resolve any mess with very little help. Some procedures seem to be very straightforward, but if you write them down in points, it could be exhaustive list of operations. Which are delicate and unforgiving, if you ommit or mess just one step. If you are uncertain of something, it is always better to ask here than complicate thing even more.

Very common saying "garbage in - garbage out" also apply here, even more than you would expect. One of the most common things discussed here is going head first, with 5 gallon bucket and pouring acid on whole boards and mobile phone boards. Expecting that shiny bar of gold will eventually apear on the bottom :) sobering moment is when you check it day after, and it is a black mass of unknown composition. And 5 minutes later, it become a new thread here :D

Stick to the known procedures from start, and do not experiment for first few batches. And if you have strong urge to experiment, do it on a small scale - if you make big mess in 400 ml beaker, it is much easier to recover and resolve than from full 5 gallon bucket and hundreds of dollars at stake :)

Have fun and stay safe :)
